Known as “plastic coil” bags, these highly collectible purses were very popular in the 40s when traditional fabrications were scarce and remained so throughout the 50s and into the early 60s as they were stylish, easy to care for and affordable. They were available in many shapes, colors and sizes.

According to the attached ad, this purse dates to 1959.
